Just AEDP Skills: Deliberate Practice Skills Training weekend. Natasha Prenn, LCSW
This weekend will be AEDP’s first ever deliberate practice skills training weekend. It will be skills training and practice. Just the skills. Appropriate for both those new to AEDP and those with experience, this workshop will be a nuts-and-bolts dig into how to do AEDP. Inside the magical feel of AEDP, there is a clear and recognizable structure, the bones of the model. We will practice the language of actual interventions, the steps and sequences that allow the work to flow, and the maps and protocols that inform our decision-making. We will unpack how to facilitate the different dyadic change processes that are central to AEDP. Natasha is well known for her “how-to” workshops. She will use a balance of videotape, practice exercises, and user-friendly course materials to make AEDP’s complexity simple and practical. You will head back to work armed with immediately applicable clinical interventions and a framework for the different interventions you may already be using.
You’ll learn to:
sharpen your moment-to-moment tracking skills
sharpen the use of relational interventions from the get go
understand AEDP’s use of self and different kinds of self-disclosure
understand metaprocessing as a key multifaceted intervention
explore somatic correlates of emotion to harness change for the better
apply moment-to-moment tracking to patient/therapist interactions
utitize skills of affirming, delighting, welcoming
use self of therapist in AEDP specific ways
demonstrate self-disclosure of affect, process and shared life experience
demonstrate metaprocessing as a multi-faceted AEDP skill
utilize relational interventions to make explicit relational experiences
ABOUT THE PRESENTER:
Natasha Prenn, LCSW, is a psychotherapist, speaker, educator, author and life coach. As a senior faculty member of the AEDP Institute (Accelerated Experiential Dynamic Psychotherapy), she pioneered the AEDP Essential and Advanced Skills Courses, and is well known as a therapists’ therapist across the U.S. and abroad. Natasha, an engaging presenter, is noted for her ability to translate AEDP theory into user-friendly steps, and for her enthusiastic belief that the mechanisms of the magic of experiential-dynamic work are teachable and therefore learnable skills. Her obsession with languaging interventions and skills training has led to her co-authoring a monograph for APA: Supervision Essentials for Accelerated Experiential Dynamic Psychotherapy. This book, which Natasha wrote with Diana Fosha, is filled with practical skills to wield the power of AEDP’s theory and practice into psychotherapy supervision.
Natasha offers coaching and psychotherapy to individuals and couples, and consults with psychotherapists individually and in small groups by invitation. She is a founding editor of Transformance: The AEDP Journal, a blogger for CSAR, and the author of the forthcoming AEDP Skills Manual. Some of her articles and book chapters are available on the AEDP website. Who Should Attend:
The workshop is well suited for therapists at all levels of experience as it will start with basic, introductory concepts and progress to increasingly complex problems and methods. This workshop is intended for and limited to psychologists, social workers, professional counselors, marriage and family therapists, graduate students, and therapy interns only.
